The Reign of Mary I

Conclusion

Mary’s childhood upbringing led her to have an ardent Catholic faith that she protected throughout her life. Mary was seen as harsh and cruel because her rule was short and unsuccessful. She was not wise about her political decisions, such as marrying Philip II and allowed too many people to influence her actions. Elizabeth I and Henry VIII who executed many more people than Mary are not viewed as cruel, but powerful because they ruled for longer and did not mix politics with religion.
