The Residency Program
The program trains three recent MLIS graduates as well as staff and volunteers at 30 LAAS member archives in skills related to digital collections management. It also helps facilitate digital library projects by LAAS members for national digital platforms, including the Digital Public Library of America. Each of the collaborating institutions hires a Resident Archivist for a two-year term. The LAAS Residency Program provides recent MLIS graduates interested in archives, with the opportunity to learn from professionals and scholars in the field and gain experience in working with a variety of LA area community archives to evaluate and complete digital projects.
