The Hanna Ranch: Online Educational Resource

The Hanna Ranch

The Hanna Ranch is a 12,000 acre cattle ranch in El Paso County, about five miles south of the city of Fountain along the east side of Interstate 25 (view map). Originally homesteaded in the 1860s and 1870s by dozens of separate ranching families and land speculators, parcels of land were bought, sold, combined, divided, and resold before the Hanna family purchased the land in 1946. This exhibit explores the history of the Hanna Ranch property and the surrounding area, and the influence that the Hanna family had on ranching, urban development, and the environment. It was produced with the assistance of the Hanna family, using resources that they donated to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum in 2019.
