How was this ewer made?
This ewer was made using earthenware clay at very high temperatures. The earliest blast heat furnaces were made during the 15th century in Europe and had traveled to Southeast Asia by this object's time of creation. These furnaces could reach up to 2,800 degrees fahrenheit. During this time period, they were made of natural materials due to the lack of synthetic materials that were developed during the Industrial Revolution. This ewer would have been decorated and glazed before firing.
