Poiesis is etymologically derived from the ancient term ποιέω, which means "to make". This word, the root of our modern "poetry", was first a verb, an action that transforms and continues the world. We are embracing the capacious sense of poiesis in our work here while also hewing to the generally accepted idea that poetry is a linguistic way of knowing. We will be continually updating this path as we make new work.
