Cooking Resistance and Acceptance

"When I was growing up, I was very resistant to cooking, cause my mother was always in the kitchen and I was like, 'I'm not gonna be that woman, I'm gonna be an independent woman, I'm not gonna be in the kitchen, I can eat out if I need to...' Then I got married, and I was unemployed for a short period of time between jobs, and I'm not the type of person who likes to just sit at home, so I was like 'What can I do? Oh yes, I have all these cookbooks because my mother brings me a cookbook every time she sees me, so I may as well try and do something with it." And so it was just cool to make some of the things that she tried so hard to teach me, to then have to teach myself how to make them and appreciate how much I was missing. So now when she comes to visit me we cook together, so that's like my favorite memory because we've come full circle, so..."
