The American Dream Denied

The amount of a substance that enters or contacts a person is called a dose. An important consideration in evaluating a dose is body weight; therefore children are more susceptible. The greater the amount of a substance a person is exposed to, the more likely that health effects will occur. In interviews in this exhibit you will hear residents describe the restrictions they placed on their children in hopes to protect them from exposure, such as not allowing them to play in the yard.
