Spatial data visualizations allow us to orient ourselves in space, and to situate places, events, and phenomena outside of our personal experience in space. The most common type of spatial data visualization is a map. Maps allow us to discover and visualize spatial relationships and to make perceptible large scale movements or patterns. Maps can also show both the world and parts of the world at the same time, and thus, make it possible for us to make comparisons or see how events in part of the world relate to the whole. Each of the sections of this page represents a function of spatial data visualizations, and shows the different kinds of maps that can fulfill that function. plain 2020-05-19T06:14:31-07:00 Tamara Shreiner 72eaa2d1ba1352b75b8a8da73e879a4ceb510ae0
