Chapter I: Subtractive Analog Synthesis
Technology
Analog synthesizers use analog circuitry to create electronic audio signals. These electronic audio signals are converted into sound by a speaker using an electroacoustic transducer. There are five main sections of a signal path in a basic subtractive analog synthesizer:1. Oscillator (VCO)
2. Filter (VCF)
3. Amplifier (VCA)
4. Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO)
5. Envelop Generator (EG/ADSR)
Many of these synthesizer principles form the basis for the synthesizer technologies in the coming chapters.
