Dear beloved Professor,
This course FIQWAS 10505-HA2 which is the writing section of the fairy tales and Indian mythology has helped me in many ways. Not only it has boast my knowledge of this course but also has broadened my thinking criteria. It has showed how to a write, understand and present the work in a more coherent way. Every writing assignment I did has harness my grammar and writing skills. The course has helped me develop an interest in Indian mythology and folktales.
To begin with, the very first assignment we did was the introduction letter in which we had to write about ourselves, background and past life. It was an effective way to get familiarize with the professor. Also, it showed the professor what kind of writers we were. The five-minute meditation at the beginning of class were very relaxing. As the class progressed, we start writing poems about our life, heirloom and fictional superpower we had. On weekly basics, we used to read our poem out loud which was fun and entertaining exercise. The class discussions were amazing and helped us understand the work more effectively. Everyone participated willingly, their opinion and what they bring to the table was unique. Wide variety of questions asked to professor which he answered in the simplest way, so the student can fully understand the topic.
The professor taught us how to use pathos logos and ethos in our writing to attract the reader into our work and make our work more interesting to read. We did summary analysis and literacy narrative which enhanced our summarizing, analyzing and writing skills. One of my favorite activity in this course was to edit our first draft of every assignment. We used to read each other paper and find grammatic error and weakness of our paper. It helped us to remove all the weakness and mistake in our paper and to write a well develop work with zero error.
The research paper was one of the most interesting writing of this course. We had to research a lot for our topic. The library sessions were very helpful to our research. We went to the library, were taught how to use databases and different sites to get more information about our topic. I would like to mention that personally for me these databases were very helpful because most of my sources came from these databases. The interview was quite a new thing for me because I have never interviewed someone. The interview with Doctor Susham Bedi went quite well as I learned many remarkable things from her. Her ideas, perspectives and experience played a major part in my research. I read different journals, articles, magazines, archives to find credible sources for my research. It also boasted my ability to read and gather information.
The reflection that we wrote at the end of every piece of writing helped us develop strategies for reading, drafting and editing. The citation was an important aspect that we learned in this course. To support our argument, we need to back it up with citation and quotes from various sources. There should be a work citied page at the end in MLA format indicating the source of the quotes and paraphrasing and should give credit to the writer of the source.
From taking this class, I have learned many new and distinctive style of writing. My writing skills has improved and its has helped me build my own learning style. Credit goes to Professor Stoler who has taught us various things and was very helpful to us. This class was indeed, one of the most important and memorable class and has taught me a lot. Thank you, professor, for always be there when we needed you. This course had a significant impact on my personality and made me grow for future courses that I would take
Regards,
Dany
