Poetry Foundation. "John Milton." Poetry Foundation. Poetry Foundation, 2014. Web. 24 Oct. 2014.
This section is about God's creation of Earth, and the freedoms that will be given to mankind. We have talked about how the thought process behind giving mankind free-will was that he was trying to emulate his thoughts on freedom of conscious and a high degree of civil liberty. Milton wanted to do away with forms of tyranny and oppression, which he tries to produce through Paradise Lost. As he becomes more involved in the cause against the church, Milton's writing becomes more self-conscious and mature. He looks to different authors, including Edmund Spenser in the English Renaissance, for guidance on how to put his political and social views into poems that people can read and relate to.
