Why attack the Philistines?

Throughout the book of Isaiah, many people are portrayed as evil, and one recurring people is the Philistines.  So, why are the Philistines deserving of such hate?  I have found that the Philistines came from an area of Palestine, and were generally known as being violent and harsh, so much that even the term Philistine became a term associated with "enemies". (Word Origins)  If that was the case, it would make sense that some of the nations mentioned in the book of Isaiah would band together against the Philistines.
