View the Scrapbook from Beginning to End

Prudence Person's scrapbook contains approximately 100 pages (50 leaves) filled, usually to the very edges of the paper, with newspaper and magazine clippings, postcards, and die-cut illustrations. The scrapbook's contents are arranged neither thematically nor chronologically, so it is difficult to reconstruct the order of "composition." Prudence seems to have added to her scrapbook somewhat haphazardly over the course of nearly 50 years.

By following this path you can view the scrapbook from beginning to end, in the order in which you would encounter the pages if you viewed the material object in the Rare Books Room at UNC Chapel Hill. The path begins with the front cover of the scrapbook and proceeds through the inside back cover, the last "page" to which Prudence affixed clippings.

Notes about this path: Each page on this path contains links to 10 pages of the scrapbook. Each page of the scrapbook appears as a thumbnail image with a short text summary to its right. To view the pages closely and read more about the items Prudence included, click on the "Details" button beneath each image.
