Madame de Stale

The figure referred to as Madame de Stale is Anne Louise Germaine de Stael-Holstein who was a well known writer and political activist. She was a key figure during the French Revolution and during the time of Napoleon. De Stale resisted Napoleon’s influences and openly criticized him. Her most noteworthy accomplishments include her literary work in the developing Romanticism theory.
