Metacognition

I honestly loved this assignment (even though it also is going to be the last thing I do on this computer because it's failing for good now). I had to design it as quick as possible because my computer has been having issues connecting to the charger and I knew that eventually my method of tape and pressure was going to fail (right now there's no way to keep it charging it is dying for good as I'm writing this) so I wouldn't be able to access all of the stuff I have collected and open on my computer, so I didn't hunt down information in the books like asked, instead I built it on aspects of fiction writing/world building that I use and consider when writing, and thus I was able to use and draw upon the writing I have been doing and work out examples. I loved the ability to customize and draw upon so many different resources and how all the different ways pages could be used and I honestly think that for further usage I would be able to grow more ideas on how to use all the different resources and formats. For multimodal, my mind gravitates towards text and doesn't grasp on videos so I had a rather...unique idea. Each slide of the steps has a different fantasy style key image, and on the bottom there's a link to a Soundcloud instrumental track that corresponds to the style. Combined, each day we're working on is going to be of a theme drawing students into a particular type of setting using a combination of visuals and audio, with the audio being instrumentals that can play in the background during class. I took advantage of many features like the notes feature for more information about various things that might be useful throughout the unit and decided that I would use the Hypothesis integration for assignments as it's something that is there on every slide and allows students to see each other's work, allows me to see all their work, and makes it so their work is in one easily accessible place for me and them instead of getting lost or needing to be put in a stack somewhere. For actual grading of assignments I would probably use the reply feature to each note to give feedback and grading that way, keeping everything stored in the same place throughout the unit. I also might use it for letting students ask questions or other aspects depending on future units because the ease of adding info and thoughts for everyone is a very useful tool for teacher-student or even student-student interaction. I always enjoy finding new customizable forms of technology and this one is a toy that I plan to use and explore more.
