Identify the various stages of your project, and develop a plan of work to fit the timeline you have available to you. If you haven't already done this, the exercise on outlining your methodology can help you to identify the stages you'll progress through over the course of your research. The overview of the practice-based research method may also be helpful.

Note: be sure to build in “buffer zones” for each stage – a cushion in case you need to adjust the project timeline in anyway, in case a stage takes longer than expected, or problems crop up.

For each stage of your project, list the following:

1. Number of working days available at the start of this stage.
2. Activities to undertake during this stage.
3. Number of working days required to complete this stage.

Map these stages against your start and due dates. Your project should now be broken into manageable chunks, with specific milestones and a detailed plan for completion, review, printing, and submission.
