Reading 《Walden》 needs a kind of lonely realm and a pure natural heart. Open the writing is a long talk with the author Thoreau, a return to the original experience, a precipitate to think carefully, to clean up the opportunity. Quietness is a kind of state of Thoreau, and also a sort of feeling of him, and the deep water is the result of Thoreau's perception. His purpose was to expose the evils of the period when he lived. Thoreau pointed out that people are becoming more and more complicated, and eventually lose their real meaning of life.

Through the eassay, Thoreau revealed an idea that only in the embrace of nature, people can be fearless and open-minded and define what human-being is. In the author's eyes, simple mountain forest is his dependence, and nature is his attribution. In the essay, Where I lived, and what I Lived For, Thoreau revealed the love for the cabin, the love for the mountains, the love of some small animals and the love for nature and everything, this kind of love is inseparable with his simple optimistic sentiment. It is proved when Thoreau wrote,"The winds which passed over my dwelling were such as sweep over the ridges of mountains, bearing the broken strains, or celestial music...Olympus is but the outside of the earth everywhere."(Thoreau). He loved those winds and everything in Walden; it was "Olympus" for him. According to the word "Olympus," the author treated his life as a dream, and Walden was his fantasy world and of freedom that could connect him back to nature. Choosing living in nature was a compromise of secular and a retreat of the complicated ruled world which against the meaning of the nature of humanity. When a person in the face of social rules, and this rule was right at the time, he had no power can above the rule, but unwilling to bend under the rules, he had to jump out of the rules and got out of the society. The author jumped out; he used his action show that jumped out the community can be a right way of life.

In Thoreau's short life, he tried to encourage people to simplify their lives, to make time for life and taste your life. The objective world and human society are complicated, but the knowledge enables human to choose a right way of life, and have enough courage to other extras. Thoreau lived in a small town for two years and two months. The original way of life, he lived in the wood almost without any help from scratch, inhabited in space and built a house that belonged to him in the forest. It is hard to imagine how Thoreau made this simple wooden house with a small bed, a desk, a stack of paper for survival, but he did. Thoreau practiced his transcendentalist, with his perseverance and love of life to survive. As he wrote, "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Through his life experience, he told the world that do not to be confused by complicated life and lose the direction and meaning of life. The human need to be the steersman of their life, and sail away.

Thoreau saw today's society in original perspective, and he thought that desire would not bring satisfaction; it also would waste peoples' life.Thoreau wrote, "Each one is a man, an Irishman, or a Yankee man. The rails are laid on them, and they are covered with sand, and the cars run smoothly over them." It was near the edge of collapse, people give up the dignity, personality, with labor in exchange for the meager rewards, this is called "the wise man?" People were greedy, they lost their hearts and painfully struggle with the society as a whole. Where the industrial develop period, as the period of the rich material life, but Thoreau didn't be fooled by this kind of material life, and he had good control of his desire to live alone. For example, when the author described those men who cared about the daily news, it says "For my part, I could easily do without the post-office. I think that there are very few important communications made through it."(Where I live, and What I Live For). When people were lavish in their lives but forgot the pitfalls behind the flashy world, was it possible to wake up with a nightmare? From the beginning of the primitive times, what could be regarded as "wisdom" had been cast aside by the development of the society.

Through his life experiment, he told readers not to be confused by the complicated life and lost the direction and meaning of life. If people can lead a simple life of the rules of the universe, there won't be so anxious to disturb the peace of mind.
