Praxis #3 Week One Entry -- Media Intervention
For this week's intervention we read:
- Digital Humanities Manifesto:https://www.humanitiesblast.com/manifesto/Manifesto_V2.pdf
- Ytasha Womack: Chapter1, Afrofuturism The World of Black Sci-Fi and Fantasy Culture, online course reserve, available here at USC library: https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/socal/detail.action?docID=1381831
- Octavia Butler, John Jennings, Kindred (graphic novel), from Prologue – The Fight (including The Fight) available at USC library online
https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/socal/detail.action?pq-origsite=primo&docID=4762576
Based on your initial brainstorm from the above materials about issues of design, creativity, and futuristic "writings" and your conversations with your peers, create a multimedia post (either individually or with a fellow student/st) as an entry into our collective Manifesto into an imagining of the future guided by a love ethic and informed by the Lorde's embrace and inclusivity of differences.
- What would you want most to see changed?
- How can we learn from the past to create for the present and the future?
- How might be the most effective expressive way to imagine this change? What images, sounds, and text might you combine?
- How might a manifesto statement create the conditions that would facilitate that change?
