Lack of sidewalk in Salisbury Neighborhood

While in Salisbury, Maryland I came across this college neighborhood where one side had a walkable sidewalk but the other side was only grass and trees. In most cases, this would be ok but since it’s in front of people’s houses this could affect accessibility. People who are living in these houses would have more trouble navigating this area since the only safe walkable sidewalk is on the other side of the street. This also gives fewer opportunities for those living on this side to bike or walk. At night this spot could also be dangerous since there's no sidewalk and there is also a lack of visibility. On the other hand, building a sidewalk on this side might not necessarily help. It will give more accessibility but it will also require tearing down nature in the process. This area also provides a green space so tearing it down could have effects in other ways.
