  Introduction

  The electronic portfolio (e-portfolio) required by University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business LIM598 Capstone course allows students to present their best work while simultaneously reflecting on the Library and Information Science (LIS) core competencies learned during the Master of Management in Library and Information Science (MMLIS). Students can apply their project management skills through the development of an e-portfolio, with the outcome of skillfully linking various assignments completed over the duration of the program to the program goals. The program goals will be discussed in detail in this e-portfolio, and the key LIS core competencies mastered through various courses and assignments will be highlighted and communicated. This will allow students to reflect on the practical implications of their various courses, and illustrate fundamental knowledge gained in LIS. The e-portfolio will be finalized following a well-planned schedule. The key to ensuring this e-portfolio is successfully completed within the timeframe of the semester is to establish a realistic action plan comprising a detailed breakdown of scheduled deliverables and their respective deadlines, and then follow this plan as closely as possible.

  General Approach

  To begin, I will read through the course material to understand the expectations of this project. Then, I will note and schedule the various milestones and deliverables and when they are due. I plan to work consistently throughout the semester to ensure sufficient time for feedback and revision, and maintain a professional and high standard of work, using appropriate writing and citation tools and style reference materials. Although a primary driving force of completing this e-portfolio is a course requirement, it will result in a product that allows me to professionally highlight my LIS core competencies. Restraining forces primarily include time constraints and personal responsibilities in other areas. Therefore, it is critical that I manage my time carefully to successfully complete all deliverables. The main project deliverables include the following:
  
  
  To ensure that these deliverables are met in a timely manner, a detailed schedule has been developed. However, it is also necessary to consider possible risks and challenges that could deter progress despite the detailed schedule. The primary risks include ineffective time management and poor communication with the course instructor. To manage these risks, the schedule will be adhered to as far as possible, and open communication will be initiated with the course instructor and cohort peers for critical feedback and support.

  Schedule Overview

  The schedule overview allows sufficient time to complete the deliverables within the timeframe allocated. The following timeline provides a brief overview of necessary tasks and when they are due:

  ​​​​​​Additional time has been planned for some of these tasks to allow for flexibility within the schedule, and there is also likely to be some flexibility in the order of tasks, time allowing. For example, in the initial stages, there will be some additional focus on the Career Plan and Diversity Statement, potentially freeing up additional time when these have been scheduled, potentially allowing for more time for the e-Portfolio Revision and Conclusion if necessary. I am confident that I will be successful within the timeframe in the implementation of a professional, high quality e-portfolio by following this action plan.
