With the knowledge and skills attained, I feel ready to embark on a second career in information science, while tying in my experience to date. I was born in Zimbabwe, raised in South Africa, and have had the privilege of living and working on three continents - Africa, Europe, and North America. As a result, I have gained valuable intercultural perspectives and understanding on many important issues. I am an ichthyologist (fisheries scientist) by training, and one of my many highlights as a researcher was volunteering for four weeks on a NOAA fisheries survey off the coast of Alaska. I have a deep interest in enhancing information literacy, particularly in STEM, while ensuring information availability, accessibility, and dissemination. I have extensive experience with metadata and indexing, editing, and building scientific bibliographic research databases, and writing and editing scientific research. I am passionate about sustainability, and most things I have been involved in regarding work have been directly, or indirectly related to sustainability.
