AREAS OF RESEARCH

PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT

• Provide liaison, outreach, and support to assigned academic departments to ensure  collections and services meet faculty and student needs
• Initiate and conduct course-related and general information literacy instruction and  develop content, including course guides, subject guides, and other instructional and  outreach materials in the assigned areas
• Provide the entire range of in-person and online reference services, including research consultations for assigned departments at the undergraduate and graduate level, and participate in the shared reference desk, including evening hours
• Build, assess, and promote collections that meet the social justice and DEI research  and curricular needs of students and faculty in assigned academic departments and disciplines 
• Engage and participate in ongoing assessment of student learning, use of library collections, and effectiveness and impact of library services
• Engage in professional service and scholarly contributions
• Participate in committees and faculty governance in the Library and on campus

• Author support services, including but not limited to, language editing, content review, journal selection, and reviewing
• Copyediting – enhance manuscripts to ensure they are concise, consistent, and accurate by revising spelling and grammar as necessary
• Substantive editing – enhance the overall structure, content, flow, and readability of scientific manuscripts, make suggestions as necessary to the style, language, and title as required by the target journal.

• Responsible for financial process, including but not limited to general bookkeeping, payroll, bank deposits, giving statements, financial reports, budget development, audit paperwork
• Coordinate use and care of the building – facilitate building maintenance and repairs, manage support staff, maintain vendor contracts and relationships
• Provide frontline communication; website and social media management and maintenance
• Enhance and streamline operations processes and procedures to improve effectiveness
• Building renovation project management team lead
• Provide necessary operational support for clergy and parish staff
• Organize and co-ordinate church and community events

• Index, edit, and build scientific bibliographic research databases
• Develop metadata standards, create authority records, work with controlled vocabulary, thesauri, and taxonomies
• Develop training manuals for standardized inputting and information organization
• Regional Manager for KwaZulu-Natal, responsible for sourcing relevant African databases, and representing the company at local and international conferences
• Responsible for the budget, marketing, and increasing the profile of the company in educational institutions throughout the province
• Represent the Managing Director when necessary

• Organize and conduct freshwater, estuarine, and coastal research for scientists at the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science (DIFS) and SAIAB.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

• Mentor for current postgraduate and undergraduate intern students in the Oral History Center, Bancroft Library, UC Berkeley. Provide weekly training and instruction on developing metadata for oral histories. Provide ongoing feedback, January 2022–present
