LGBTQ+ Representation in Cinema

Studio Comparison

These graphs show the difference in the amount of representation between each major studio. They indicate the amount of titles released with and without representation and the total box office gross of films with and without representation for each individual studio. Move the slider to navigate between 2011 to 2016 (some 2010 releases are included).

As you can see, Walt Disney grosses the most amount of money despite having only released 5 films with LGBTQ+ representation while Universal Pictures released 20 films with representation, but still didn't gross as much as Walt Disney. This is why the size of the release matters. Walt Disney tends to reach a larger audience than Universal Pictures. However, these films are also marketed to different demographics.
