Lewis versus Howat: An Analysis of Labor Rhetoric, Education, and Class Privilege in Early Twentieth Century Mining Politics

Annotation 2

Lewis uses logic when he gives the facts of the Committee for Industrial Organization like the number of members, the national and international unions they are allied with, and how the group had organized members into different union relating to textile, auto, lumber, mining, and many more. This record spoke progress. It is a development without standard in our own country. When making speeches Lewis uses a metaphor, simile, alliteration, and ask rhetorical questions to actively engage his audience.
