Intentional Instructional Design
ISTE STUDENT STANDARD: 1c. Empowered Learners use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.
Justification: This exemplar promotes the ideas behind empowering the learner. “Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice.” In this case, the “practice” they are engaging in are their portfolios and their development over time. Furthermore, students are responsible for including various types of artifacts that reflect their learning and growth over a period of four years.
Project Based Learning (PBL) As SoHDA is a Linked Learning school, implementing PBL is a requirement. These PBL units are aligned to the school’s focus on Arts, Media, and Entertainment. Moreover, these units are interdisciplinary and encompass various modes of collaboration by students and faculty.
