While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

The teacher stated that by integrating technology into the lesson prompted collaboration amongst students. They were eager to share their solutions, ask for feedback, and provide support to their peers.
Having students use the Explain Everything app allowed the teacher to immediately identify and address misconceptions and provide appropriate feedback. In the past, teachers would have to review student work samples and possibly do student interviews to understand students thinking and identify conceptual misconceptions. The use of Explain Everything app allows students to not only explain their thinking but demonstrate their process through annotating their work.
Additionally, allowing students to use Numbers to formulate their bar graphs, allowed them to focus on the analysis of the data opposed to the aesthetics of the graphs and charts. This allowed students to quickly correct possible errors.

Next Steps
To improve upon this activity, the instructor would like to have students upload their final presentation draft to a learning management system like Schoology to allow for whole class peer review and feedback.
