To create a structured support system that meets the personalized needs of each teacher by allowing them to collaborate with colleagues through their school’s professional development  group.

5b2. Promotes a Culture of Professional Inquiry and Collaboration:

The teacher promotes a culture of inquiry for the purpose of improving teaching and learning and collaborates with colleagues to do so.
 
 

Standards and Task Force Recommendations Addressed

Student ISTE Standards:

The Teacher Led PD Group allows teachers and school staff to learn from each other and to make choices as to what kinds of instructional support they need. (ISTE 1). 1. Empowered Learner: [Teachers and staff] leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.

 

Task Force Recommendation 5:

  This Teacher Led PD Group provides “learner-driven professional learning opportunities” where participants customize their learning goals to meet their personal instructional growth needs. TFR 5- Design and deliver learner-driven professional learning opportunities for school leaders, teachers, students, parents, board members and community and business leaders.
