Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Women of the Year: Ending

He is shocked to get up one morning and discover Tess miserably failing but trying her best to cook breakfast. The accomplished woman is humorously not a woman in the sense of homemaker at all. This contradiction is probably important for the women in the audience because Tess may seem like she has it all, but she (both Tess and Hepburn in their eyes) cannot handle what these women can do with their eyes closed. Since the home and kitchen is where most women will return that night, this is an affirmation of the star image that manages and negotiates intertextual resolution with dominant values and norms.
