In There Behind the Door: An Exhibition of Deformances of Gertrude Stein

What's behind the door? LLMs

All poetry in this work is taken, unmodified, from Gertrude Stein's 1914 edition of Tender Buttons.
Images and sounds in this work were artificially generated or processed using off-the-shelf artificial intelligence. Sometimes the works were seeded with archival images. Sometimes they were prompted only by Gertrude Stein's words.
Sound:

Gertrude Stein's voice was cloned in 11ElevenLabs (https://elevenlabs.io/) using 40 second fragments of recordings that were cleaned up using Adobe Podcast (beta) from Penn Sound (https://writing.upenn.edu/pennsound/x/Stein.php). See my discussion of voice cloning, ethics, and fair dealing.
