Lafayette History

The Alexandre Mouton House stands in historic downtown Lafayette, Louisiana. The house today houses the City of Lafayette Museum. Alexandre Mouton was the son of Jean Mouton who founded Vermillionville, which would later become the City of Lafayette. Alexandre Mouton would become Governor of Louisiana from 1843-1846.
