Acadiana History

Washing-Day among the Acadians on the Bayou Lafourche, Louisiana

The Acadian people were forcible expelled from their home in Acadi, present-day Nova Scotia. Many eventually made their way to South Louisiana where their decedents still live and thrive today. In Southwest Louisiana the Cajun culture and tradition can trace its roots to the early settlers from Acadi.
