Larrea tridentata, as seen in its natural habitat, appears to have a portion of its bush at a different stage of its cycle in comparison to the rest of the plant. Here it looks dead beside fully blooming portion. This area could potential be not attatched to the flowering bush, but a clone, as Larrea tridentata does produce clones as part of its reproduction. If this is the case, the bare and grey appearance could be the result of not ideal environmental conditions at the start of the clone's life.
