Herbarium: Medicinal Plants as Information

Serrated leaf edges.

Dried leaves of A. alnifolia are olive-green to sepia, and possess a thin central vein with seven smaller radiating leaf veins on either side. Each auxiliary leaf vein terminates in the point of the serrated leaf edge. The leaves of A. alnifolia are known to contain bioactive polyphenols, a class of antioxidants with high potential for medicinal use.
