Herbarium: Medicinal Plants as Information

Dead leaf

The dead leaf is brown and dry. It reminds us of thin paper that can easily tear. The color and texture are likely due to sun exposure, which saps all water from the leaf, and a loss of nutrients. We also noticed there were many dead leaves at the bottom of the Hardenbergia violacea. Perhaps, the plant shed these leaves due to recent storms and fast winds.
