Building T-1: Post Headquarters
Built: 1938
Function during the CCC era: Post Headquarters Building. The Works Progress Administration-appropriated funds provided for construction of this structure, which enveloped the previous post chapel. The project incorporated new heating, electrical work, and phone line installation.
Current function: This building has had many different uses throughout its life, including:
- 1941-42: Alien Detention Hearings conducted for Japanese nationals by the U.S. Department of Justice during the World War II internment period. A special courtroom was constructed for the activity, which underwent restoration in the 2010’s.
- 1962-65 - Leased for U.S. Air Force use.
- C. 1970-c. 2009 - U.S. Forest Service ownership; utilized as Northern Region Technology Development Center.
- 2009-present - HMFM ownership and restoration of the courtroom.
