Denice Frohman - "Borders" (WoWPS 2014)

This is video recording is of Dencie Frohman performing "Borders", the audio sampled in this mix. In Denice Frohman's short bio from her website she identifies as, " an award-winning poet and educator, whose work explores the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and the “in-betweeness” that exists in us all." This theme of drawing across borders and living in the intersections, is central to this work, as well as many of the cultural productions used to create these mixtapes. Decolonizing perspectives on (forced) migration studies are those which embrace the nature of the prefix (trans), they are the spaces in-between, the spaces of critical recognition, the spaces of healing from the historical trauma of diasporas and (dis)placement.
