MADlines-Ms. Understood

MADlines' bio is sampled from her website. "MADlines is a writer, rhymer and Teaching Artist, based in the Bay Area. She was born and raised in Seattle - a city so diverse in style that it doesn’t adhere to a distinct Hip Hop sound. For MADlines, growing up immersed in the Seattle scene meant embracing multiple genres and styles. Also, her travels to Jamaica as a child inspired her love for music that uplifts and enlivens the masses. " More about the artist can be accessed here, MADlines

An interview of MADlines with Davey D of Hard Knocks Radio can be found at the link below. MADline, disucsses the history of hip hop as a medium to fortify communities against mental/ psychological violence. She advocates that hip hop is a weapon against the dehumanization and violence that (dis)places and dispossesses persons through the mechanisms of coloniality. The interview can be found here, and allows MADlines to speak in her own voice about issues of community, activism, and growth/development of her artistry as a form of resistance to social ills.
