First Contact: A retrospective
Everyone knows of the mission of the Speaker and the two sentient species it discovered. But few remember anymore how it happened, only knowing the few lines given to the mission in the history books.
This set of archive footage, collected from news broadcasts and other contemporary sources, is the result of tireless work from the people of the time. We thank them for making this record available to us, and we thank you for watching.

NOTE: I'M NOT DONE YETI'm starting to think I should've rushed through the early parts with the Gevrons more. They're nice world-building but they're not all that relevant to the themes.
(And I'm running out of time.)

Archive footage
Choosing to represent the story as archive footage was not arbitrary. It makes the whole story into "the kind of history created by new media".Not that I'm delving into that concept much, but still.

Big thanks to the players in my Storium game, who graciously allowed me to use their characters and actions. This really helped speed up writing the first few scenes and also gave me more character variety than I would've otherwise had.(The characters in question are Sacha, Daniel, Blu, and Josh. Thomas Deacon is a stand-in for the character of the other player, who did not say one way or the other if I had permission to use his character.)
(Also note, I'm not sure if the link will work - you might need to have a Storium account in order to view the game.)
