How to Research a Topic
- Review all information, guides and tutorials on how to pick and narrow a topic and how to use and select effective research sources.
- Use encyclopedias, dictionaries, indexes etc. to gather background information on the topic.
- Search the library’s catalog to find books.
- Investigate databases and journals that might be helpful to your research; utilize both general and subject specific resources.
- Try to include lesser used resources such as newspapers, government information, grey literature, dissertations etc. when appropriate and allowed by the instructor.
