Students may find the act of information seeking difficult and the Library provides support for this activity by holding Research Seminars, offering quick help via instant messaging and email at Ask a Librarian, supplying assistance at the Reference Desk on the first floor of the East Tower and scheduling appointments for Research Help with Research Assistants. However, by employing a variety of basic methods Jessy was able to use library resources to independently find meaningful information to complete her assignment. Jessy did the following things:

Took the time to go over handouts and tutorials so she could create effective search terms and have a better grasp on how to maneuver around the Library's catalog; IUCAT
Learned about different resources by reading descriptions and exploring how the were arranged
Expanded her world of options by not just using the general databases she was comfortable with, but by including subject specific and specialized databases as well

While it was a lot of work, it paid off. Jessy handed in her white paper, eventually received a B+ for the class (The Climate Queen is Tough!), is now on track to graduate on time and really enjoyed the class. Now Jessy O. is thinking, that maybe one day she could be the new Climate Queen (well at least she can dream).
