Social Attitudes Towards Tourette's

Disturbances
Those with Tourette's struggle with social acceptance, as their coprolalia and tics (sudden, repetitive motions) distract them from their daily lives. Disturbances in the flow of thought affect those individuals with Tourette's, causing their tics to start (An Anthropologist on Mars, 82). Dr. Bennett was prone to this when driving, because as he had to stop at a red light, his flow of driving smoothly was interrupted, causing him to compulsively touch his moustache and glasses (An Anthropologist on Mars, 83). 

Personal Space
Due to the tics, a sense of personal space is wanted  This can be seen with Dr. Bennett, who was repeatedly tapping on a glass lampshade with his nails, creating a high-pitch sound (An Anthropologist on Mars, 82). When asked if the lampshade being out of reach would help his
