The Circle the Only Shape

With the circle as the only shape in the piece, it is clear that the circle holds great importance. One of the only other Malevich pieces similar to this is the Black Square, which many take as his defining piece. Many have said that the Black Square represents Malevich himself. If so, what does the Black Circle represent?
