African Americans and Japanese Americans fled Bronzeville and Little Tokyo respectively.  They both moved to integrate Los Angeles’s   West side.  In the 1950’s the Crenshaw district was Anglo and considered the West side.  Although racial covenants existed,  nevertheless, both black and yellow were able to move into this community in limited numbers; however, as time progressed, the community at one time was equally populated by African Americans, Japanese and Anglo homeowners.
