Time Line of Into the Green Green Mud

By Ashlyn Cummins

Throughout the story of "Into the Green Green Mud" you can see the types of relationships between the main characters and in how a relationship works and all that in entails. This timeline is made up of all the major turning points or factors that contributed to the story in a major way to affect the understanding of the reader and the outcome of the relationship.

JJ and Susy are very different people. Susy always likes to be on time, whereas JJ doesn't care for strict timelines. JJ has some odd quirks with how he interacts with people giving the reader the idea that he has a lighter degree of autism.

Susy and JJ first met at work when he was supposed to bring her a pen. After work they went out and they started to fall in love, or at least they questioned if they were. This was the first big step that will jumpstart their relationship.

As Susy and JJ's relationship begins to evolve in different ways, in the typical sense of a relationship, but also that they are establishing more of a routine together, intertwining their lives together. This is a big step in a relationship, when it becomes part of your everyday lives and they're happier because of it.

Early in the story JJ had been questioning fidelity. Not the kind that involved cheating, but the kind that means that people change and something they just work together as they had when they were younger and by his rational there was nothing you could do about it other than accept it and use this as an exit strategy.

This was the final thing that JJ said to Susy. It holds great meaning in between them because it was what they used to say to each other at the end of a goof night or on the phone. It was their saying to show their love to one another.

This is the final page of this story that leads into her second book that is about Susy and JJ's fallout of their breakup and they continue to interact with each other, just in a different way than before.
