Taylor was born in Monroeville, Indiana, on 27 December 1904, the son of Dawson Wallace and Emma (Nash) Taylor. He graduated from Indiana University in 1931 and was ordained both a deacon and priest in 1935. He married on 4 November 1941, Dorothy Rae Howard. Taylor began his career as priest in charge of St. Andrew's Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He came to Indiana in 1937 as rector of Trinity Church, Peru. He also had charge of St. Mary's, Delphi, during the same period. He left for Chicago in 1942, becoming rector of Messiah Episcopal Church from 1942 to 1957, and then of St. John's, Chicago, from 1957 to 1965. He then moved to Grayslake, Illinois, as rector of St. Andrew's from 1965 to 1969. He died in Chesterton on 25 June 1993 and was buried in Holy Guardian Angels Cremation Garden.
