Otway Colvin was born in October 1860 in Campbell County, Virginia. He marred Julia M. Carlisle in Monroe, Michigan, on 30 December 1886. His seminary training is unknown, but he was ordained a deacon and priest by Bishop Knickerbacker in 1889. The bishop sent him to take charge of Trinity Church in Peru, where he served from 1889 to 1896. He also served as a missionary at Christ Church in Huntington from 1890 to 1894. He left Indiana in 1896 to move to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he was enumerated in 1900. In 1910, he lived in Ottawa, Kansas, and in 1920 in Allegan, Michigan. He died in April 1927 and is buried in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.
