Rev. Lawrence Southworth Kent

The Rev. Lawrence S. Kent was born in Chicago on 3 November 1883, the son of William S. Kent. He graduated from Nashotah House in 1891, but he was not ordained to the priesthood until 1903, when he was elevated by the Bishop of Fond du Lac at St. Paul's Cathedral. From 1905 to 1907, he served as curate of Grace Church in Newark, then moved to St. Mary the Virgin in New York City as an assistant from 1907 to 1908. He came to St. Paul's, La Porte, Indiana, later in 1908 and served as rector until 1910. He has not been located on either the 1910 or 1920 census. He may have left the priesthood. He applied for a passport from Washington, D.C., in 1920, and a photograph shows him in civilian clothes. His date and place of death are unknown.
