Hamilton was born in New Lisbon, Ohio, on 18 February 1878, the son of Matthias Nace and Anna (Myers) Hamilton. He attended Roanoke College and Virginia Theological Seminary, and graduated from the latter in 1903, when he was ordained. He married Mabel Johnson. He came to Indiana in 1909 as rector of Trinity Church, Peru, where he remained until 1915. He then moved to St. Paul's Church in Aquasco, Maryland. From 1925 to 1929, he was rector of St John's Church in Covington, Kentucky. He then moved to Donora in Washington County, Pennsylvania, as rector of St. John's Church, staying only a year. He later served at St. Thomas Church in Washington, D.C., and at St. Thomas Church in Hancock, Maryland. In 1940 he was enumerated in Columbiana County, Ohio, and in 1942 he was in Lisbon, Ohio, and was self-employed. He moved to Arizona and died in Glendale on 4 November 1961.
