Farrar was born in May 1833 in Leicestershire, England, the son of William Farrar. He married Mary King on 27 November 1861 at St. Saviour Church, Chorlton upon Medlock, Lancashire, on 27 November 1861, and immigrated to America with their son Fred the following year. His movements are unclear, though he was apparently ordained a priest in America, and served at St. Andrew's Church in Warsaw, Indiana, in 1883. From 1887 to 1888 he served Emmanual Church in Greenwood, Virginia, and in 1898 was in Salamanca, New York. Two years later he was enumerated on the census in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania. His date and place of death are not known.
