Miller was born in Canada on 5 August 1875, the son of Alexander and Catherine (Roe) Miller. He was in Dunkirk, Chautauqua County, New York, by 1907, when he became rector of St. John's Church and married his wife, Carrie Chishom McKay there. He remained there until 1910, when he moved to Lancaster, Ohio, to become rector of St. John;'s Church. He came to Michigan ity in 1918 and remained until his death from pancreatitis on 28 June 1922. He was buried in Ashtabula, Ohio.
